I sometimes feel guilty when I look at pictures and get transported there. This week I will indulge and take time without guilt to visit Colorado, Alaska, and Hawaii. those memories that I have in my mind and just indulge. Thank you for the reminder and the permission.

Just looking at your beautiful picture is a vacation moment!

May your vacation and meditation time be as peaceful as the crystalline waters…wow…

(And may your twins be sufficiently exhausted after their swim time!) Enjoy every moment.

Ahhh, I’ve been giving myself morning tea on the deck with pups, until it’s too hot.

Yes, for me, it’s a state of mind. Recently on vacation to visit family. It was extremely hot, but we still had fun at the art museum, late night at the zoo and several different water classes at the water park owned by the Y. No classes to teach, no yard work. Just fun!

Yes, exactly. I am on vacation now at the beach. Even though I am retired, I help take care of my 6 yr old grandson. So, I truly enjoy letting go, reading, going for early morning walks on the beach, and naps. I brought my mat, but have yet to unroll it. Maybe later today I’ll give it a stretch, after all, I am on vacay. Peace

I totally get this! I always take my mat with me on holiday but rarely do more than a couple of practices. But enjoying the surrounding sounds, views etc or just relaxing with a book is just as important. And I often find I then come back to my practice feeling more energised & focussed

This week I’m taking time in the late afternoon to either meditate or do a yoga Nedra practice.

I am really enjoying your summer newsletters! They've been such an inspiration to me. I appreciate your book recommendations and have finished reading The Art of Stillness by Pico Iyer and loved it! I'm now reading Silence in the Age of Noise by Erling Kagge - unbelieveable!! Upcoming on my list of reads are: The Untethered Soul, Living Untethered, Snow Country and The Sound of the Mountain. Here in Wisconsin, and being a lover of nature and quiet, my standard summer reading always include Reflections from the North Country by Sigurd Olson and Desert Solitaire by Edward Abbey. Thank you so much for encouraging a restorative summer.

Definitely a struggle for me to do less during a vacation but working on it; our twins now age 20 are really good at having a vacation state of mind. Their lesson is everyone needs time to chill. Your lesson gives me added inspiration.

Go somewhere for the day that keeps me relaxed or in nature, away from work and routines at home. Kayaking, hiking, biking, an outdoor concert or kids baseball game, and my backyard swing, all without my phone

Vacation time outside of being on vacation for me is a day with my phone and computer off. Sitting outside and watching the surrounding, the times when I allow myself to slow down, when I lost the feeling of time whilst doing something, feel like short vacation times.

I'm leaving for Ireland in just a few hours, to take a vacation with my oldest daughter, my oldest granddaughter, and her fiance. I'm not even bringing my iPad!

Just stop, close my eyes, and exhaling does it most times. Living in one of the coolest spot (temperature wise) in the Northern hemisphere helps too.
