Hello from Paris, where I’m teaching an in-person Restorative Reset this weekend. Despite years of teaching, I still feel nervous every single time. Especially when I host a yoga class on Zoom. Well, maybe not nervous—it’s more of a mix of anxious excitement and fear of failure.
To help manage, I've developed a series of pre-Zoom habits (dare we say rituals) that help me get out of my mind and into my body, grounding me and preparing me to be more present with our students.
The first ritual is dancing, which really works. I posted a silly reel about it here on Instagram. But you can download the full list as a PDF here.
What are your pre-yoga class rituals?
Until next Sunday,
Lizzie
Feeling stressed?
Join us on December 15th for our online Winter Rest class. It’s designed to dissolve holiday stress.
And save the date for my free live Sunday Savasana Series: December 8th.
I sit and pray to God to "allow His voice to come thru me and let the teaching be received in love and joy to enhance someone's life and make a difference".
I teach on Zoom too, so find this a good question. I set up the space with the props in view, decide on my opening asana and use the bathroom. I always open with the same welcome sentences to connect my voice to my body and brain. I also step to the very center of my mat and exhale down through my body to the bottom of my feet into Tadasana.
