“But it’s ok because today we have time, right, Mama?” Felix asks as I roll up his sleeves for the third damn time, trying to get it just how he likes. My impatience dissolves as I take a deep breath and hear myself say, “Yes, Bear, today we have time.”
Oh I love this! And so needed today as last day of the school holidays and I so enjoy having them at home, without an agenda, where we can head off exploring by 8am or stay in PJs all day. Going to try and incorporate more of these days into our lives during the term time. Thank you
Just did last Friday! Spent a wonderful day with a friend meandering through two bookstores (and a chocolate store) then lunch and a slow walk through a garden/park called Bishop's Close. A mini-vacation that refreshed my head, heart and soul.
What a good reminder! It made me look at my own daily flow in and out of self imposed stress scenarios, mostly caused by also self imposed and unnecessary time constraints. Why do we do that to ourselves? Especially in the western world. I've lived in other countries where it's not like that and it feels like people are much less anxiety and hyperactivity ridden.
I do take days without rushing and they feel like spring, when the woods go from brown to green. They usually start with doing something in a very conscious, absorbing way, without thinking about a later or all the tasks that need to be done. I can feel it mostly in my breath that becomes deeper and fuller all by itself, my chest opens, my shoulders hang loose, all my muscles tend to feel soft. It's like stress oozing out through the soles of my feet and life is quiet and full of tenderness.
I love this idea! Too much of our time is scheduled, which causes stress. An unstructured day can release that stress like a teapot releasing steam. It's needed and should be more accepted in our society. Thank you, Lizzie.
Lizzie- Today I am Resting without plans. My heart feels still and my mind rather clear ! Hoping to sustain the feeling! Enjoy your day exploring with your beautiful children! You are an Amazing Mama!
I’m retired after a career in University administration and 8 years as a yoga instructor. Still teach a class! I start most mornings on our sunporch with a pot of tea enjoying a sunrise or a yellow butterfly perched on our lilac tree, wind chimes singing in the breeze. Then i go to my yoga room for practice. I do not take any one of these precious moments for granted. I wish all of you moments of rest. Moments count!!
I love it!!! "But it's ok Mama because today we have time, right, mama?" Out of the mouths of babes! Make time for those precious moments with our young ones as they don't stay young for long, rest assured time goes fast, I know because it only seems like yesterday when my daughter was that age this year she is going to be 40. Take a breath and practice patience, get on the mat and practice yoga. Make time for yourself too to rest and restore xxxx

They grow up too fast! I'm at the age where the grandchildren are grown and the rush is not worth it!
Definitely, I can feel my body more at ease when I am not rushing and let my energy flow! I can feel my body and mind move with kindness🌟
Quite often it’s stress I impose on myself, not really dictated by an appointment. I need to do this.
