Did you know that I lost over 28 kg (61 lbs) after giving birth to my twins?
Well, to be honest, most of it was the two full-term babies and two placentas and lots and lots of water weight in my legs. But, the last 10 kg (20 ish lbs) were very stubborn. When my boys turned 9 months old, I stopped breast feeding, and longed to fit back into my old jeans.
So, for the first time (since rowing varsity crew as a teenager at Andover in the late 1990’s) I turned to strength training. As a life-long yogi (and woman who’s susceptible to the powerful myths of diet culture) I believed that strength training wasn’t for me. I thought it would make me look “bulky”, or something.
I was wrong. What I discovered was an unexpected delight in growing stronger. Feelings of reliance and resilience bubbled up as I incorporated body-weight exercises into my home practice. And, as I’m turning 40 next year, I became fascinated with functional movement as an investment in radiant aging.
That’s the focus of my newest collaboration with gifted teacher, joyful anatomy nerd, and yoga therapist Mary Richards.
It’s a 5 week course that aims to:
Protect your joints
Increase core stabilization
Build strong glutes
Train responsive abs
And sustain postural alignment
It’s open for enrollment with a mega two-for-one deal.
Want to build strength, grow your resiliency, recover from exhaustion, and save 50% in the process? When you sign up for our Somatic Strength course before December 12th, we’re gifting you an enrollment in Mary’s beloved course Deep Rest.
Wowza! That’s $498 in learning value for just $249.
Our first live Somatic Strength group training session starts November 29th. For my Americans, that’s the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Perfect timing, huh? Hope to see you there.
