Yoga wasn’t created for women—it was shaped by a different gender, in a different culture, and a different time. Taught primarily by men who were supported by domestic help, for example, many of the prescriptions about what and how much to practice don’t match the shape of my life today.
As I navigate peri-menopause—balancing work, caregiving, and washing the damn dishes—I’m giving myself permission to let my yoga evolve. Menopause isn’t a mistake; it’s a powerful shift, a time to reclaim rest and a call to reshape this practice to honor our bodies and our lives.
I shared this idea on Instagram recently, and in a longer conversation here on YouTube.
This is why we created Somatic Woman: to embrace rest, wisdom, and the transformation this phase brings. Perhaps you'd like to join us on this self-paced journey? Here's a special 20% off coupon for you.
Sending big love for a warm holiday season.
Until next Sunday,
Lizzie
