I’ve just shared my Five Favorite Restorative Yoga Sequences for a 90 Minute Class. I’d be grateful if you like/comment/share that post over on Instagram. Thanks!
“Inhaling the breath, open your palms away from your body. Exhaling, bring them together in front of your heart. Namaste. May we live like the lotus—at home in the muddy water.”
That’s how I close my yoga classes, whether on Zoom or in person. This ritual of humility—like a prayer—connects me to my lineage. Mama closes her classes with the same words.
And remembering the muddy water gives me Anhalt (a German word meaning a place to pause or hold onto), because it acknowledges the shadow side of life: the experiences, feelings, even sensations I push away.
The helpful question is: how can I be more at home in these moments? When my kid is shouting at me? When my partner ruins my favorite cashmere shirt in the laundry? When I feel hopeless about my body and aging and all the other things.
At home in the muddy water, baby. That’s my goal.
Until next Sunday,
Lizzie

Thank you. I am new to Substack and was delighted to find you here. My wife and I attended a retreat with you and your mom years ago. We still receive your emails and I think MJ follows your Instagram feed. She is an instructor and I still practice.
I am so grateful to you and your Mamma Judith for the courses and the freebie sessions which of course I love. All of your shared offerings have had a positive and healing influence that I recognise as deeply valuable 🙏
