The sublime in art history refers to a concept that emerged in the 18th century, characterized by the depiction of awe inspiring, overwhelming, and often transcendent experiences. Think Caspar David Friedrich’s Wanderer Above Sea Fog painting from 1817.
I had just such an encounter this week.
Sometimes, after saying “no” 1,000 times, the only thing left to say is “yes”. My partner, Nico, pushed me to try paragliding for years. And, finally, I surrendered.
The experience? Simply sublime. Still buzzing from feeling so much terror and so much beauty all at once.
Where could you say “yes” to something that intimidates/inspires you this week?
Sending big love your way.
Until next Sunday,
Lizzie
